Episode III - The End of an Era

I haven't written in a long time... but I haven't really felt the need to until today. For those of you who know me, you know that I am a Star Wars geek and proud of it. I just got back from our 10 day campout for Episode III (I myself wasn't there every day, but my tent was), and now I am depressed.

We have come to the end, the last of the Star Wars movies, the last multi-day campout for a movie, the end. It's only been a day, but I miss it. I miss the eggings, the early morning honking drive-bys, the uber-nerds, the daily lightsaber fights, the evening outdoor movies, I miss it all.

These strangers became family for 10 short days. 6 and 3 years ago, we left knowing that we'd see most of us again in 3 years, to see the next installment of the trilogy. Now we left knowing that for many of us, it would be the last time we ever saw each other. All we are left with is waiting for the DVD release, knowing that each time we watch the movie the memories will return.

To everyone who spent time in line, I want to say thank you. Some of you were closer to me than others, and some of you I may not have even liked, but you all left me with wonderful memories that I will cherish throughout my life.

I know that within a few days, this depression will lift and I will go on with my life, but for now I look back, wishing that those few days would have never ended. To all Star Wars fans out there in the universe, and especially to those who became my family at the Big Newport Theater, I say... May the Force be With You.... Always.
